OK so I don't really update and I don't really plan to on any regular basis but I'm pretty much doing anything to avoid writing my paper and I guess I feel like I should update with all of my awesome Chicago people, seeing as I'm about 2,000 miles away. Also, I tend to only write in here when I'm bipolar so most people probably think that I'm like depressed and going to kill myself or something.
My roommates are both pretty cool, which I'm glad for. We hang out and such, which is really cool, and even though we're all really different, we seem to mesh well together. I think that the best way to really demonstrate out personalities is through our sheets and posters. Lexi is from Iowa and has plain blue striped sheets and a navy duvet cover. Lauren is from rural Michigan and has light pink flowery sheets and a matching duvet. My sheets are crazy hot pink and tan and olive green with werd patterns and a green duvet. So pretty much that explains us, I think. Lexi's pretty chill and keeps to herself, a little rebellious, but also absurdly smart. Lauren's really the cute innocent sweet one, but she's pretty cynical underneath it all, so I'm actually quite looking forward to either corrupting her, or exposing her already-corrupted interior lol. Which makes me the crazy one. But I'm ok with that.
California is amazing beyond belief. The weather is fabulous, and the campus at Oxy is seriously beautiful. So far I've been to the central downtown area of Pasadena where there's really nice stores and restaurants, and pretty much everywhere within walking distance of my school. I already found the yarn store, the Thai restaurant, the Jamba Juice, grocery store, and the Starbucks, so I'm pretty much set. This weekend I'm going to Santa Monica beach, and my roommates and I have planned a Disneyland trip for eventually so I'm trying to really get the whole experience.
The amount of work I have isn't really helping in terms of giving me lots of free time, but I'm sure I'll figure something out. I have so much less school, it's kind of unnerving. I have Chemistry, my Core class, Calculus, and Russian on MWF plus a Chem lab and a Calc lab on Tuesdays. So I have Thursday off, which is awesome, and classes are only an hour, so it's really a breeze. What's tricky is that there's like a zillion times more work. People always said that college is a ton of reading, but I wasn't even expecting this much. It's ridiculous, really.
Wellllll I don't really know what else to say, and that solitaire isn't going to play itself, so I should get going. |

for those of you who actually read this and want me to post something, i will post my IB scores because really the rest of summer is pretty lull in a good way.
EE: A ToK: C (hahaha not bad for a paper whose topic i didn't know)
History: 6 Art: 5 English: 5
Italian: 4 Math: 5 Chem: 5
so pretty much my scores are all 5, which i think is cool. |

oh and just so y'all know, the CONCERT THAT YOU MUST GO TO is this sunday may 7, 3:00p, at first united church on lake street and kenilworth. it's big and a few blocks west of the big library. like every other church in oak park... it should run about 1-2 hours. and it will kick ass. so be there, or suck. |

heey!
concert was last night, and i didn't totally mess up my part! i would actually go so far as to say most people couldn't tell. i mean, it was only a phrase, right?? haha.
otherwise, the whole thing was bittersweet. there were movements we totally kicked ass (vivaldi gloria, raminsh kyrie, and the solo movements were all reaaalllly good), moments we wish we could take back (that one vivaldi movement with the new page, raminsh sanctus), and moments that were just sort of there (berlioz ophelia). so there was room for improvement, but it was good. it's not like the orchestra was exactly fantastic either. all in all? I hope those people didn't pay tooo much for that show, but it was still good.
ANNOUNCEMENT
everybody should come to our final, FINAL spring concert. it's my last one EVER. it's on May 7, sometime in the evening, at a church in the oak park area. i wish i had more details than that, but it keeps changing, so i'll let you know when i can!! pleeease come!
in other news, i'm still working on the prom date, but i've been getting a few positive responses from facebook so it's all good!
i need shoes. anybody want to go shopping today? |

The sweetest things a guy could do for a girl
i found this and i think it's ridiculous, and i'm pretty much bored enough to share with you what i find stupid about it.
Leave her cute text messages. ok, text messages are nice, but i don't do "cute", and you can easily go overboard and get stalker with text messages
Kiss her in front of your friends. does anybody but me find that really awkward and embarassing? when i'm with a guy's friends, i don't want it to be painfully obvious that i'm only there because i'm with him. i want his friends to like me becuase i'm cool, not because i'm their friend's girlfriend
Trust her over everyone else. trust is good, but there's just some things that i'm never gonna want to hear.
Tell her she looks beautiful. that's nice, but it gets old. if you keep saying it, i'll think you're just saying it, and it gets creepy and annoying. (wow, i'm a terrible person lol)
Look her in the eye when you talk to her. i don't consider this sweet. this is respect. this is not something a girl longs for, but something she demands. if you're in any relationship where it's novel for the person to look you in the eye in a conversation, you need to re-evaluate.
Tell her stupid jokes to make her laugh. ok that's cute, i won't lie.
Let her mess with your hair. ok i guess that's nice too, but i'd probably do it anyways
Just walk around with her. as lond as you're sure we aren't walking to get away from you..
Include her in everything you do. no! i definitely don't want to be included in everything you do. i want my "me" time, and you should too. you have to have a life outside the person. whoa.
When she crys do whatever to make her smile. but sometimes, when she cries, it means she's upset, and if she's anything like me, she might sometimes want to be alone, and claw off your face if you upset her anymore. so treat with caution.
Forgive her for her mistakes. i should hope a guy would forgive me my mistakes, because i obviously make them. but again, forgiveness seems like it should be part of the package, not something 'extra'
Look at her like she's the only girl you see. only, i'm not the only girl you see, you're not blind, and i'm not stupid, so don't pretend i'm the only girl you see. look, but don't touch.
Tickle her even if she says stop. um, no. stop means stop. duh.
When she starts swearing at you tell her you love her. if you tell me you love me when i'm pissed at you, i promise i'll just get more pissed at you for trying to butter me up and not taking whatever issue i'm pissed about seriously. i don't know if it's fair, but it's true.
Let her fall asleep in your arms. ok no complaints lol.
Get her mad, then kiss her. see two above.
Tease her and let her tease you back. mutuality. i'm not sure if that's considered sweet, but whatever, i'm down with that.
Stay up with her all night when she's sick. a visit and a movie would be nice, but i wouldn't want somebody staying the night with me when i'm sick. i just want to be alone.
Watch her favorite movie. ahw. that's nice. ok i like that one.
Kiss her forehead. i like this one too.
Write her letters. maybe if you're on a trip or something, but NO. LAME. pick up the damn phone, you queer.
Let her wear your clothes. and more importantly, support her, because she's obviously going through some tough times if she wants to wear men's clothes.
When she's sad, hang out with her. again, just make sure she doesn't want to be alond or with girlfriends.
Let her know she is important. another thing that should be a given.
Let her take all the photos of you she wants. lol ok yes this is very important!! lol.
Kiss her in the rain. ahw i like kisses in the rain lol.
And when you fall in love with her, tell her. but only IF. and wait a while. the lo-e word is scary.
so that's why i don't do relationships... because i'm heartless... right... lol.
don't be offended because i'm cynical. i'm just saying... |

- occidental for sure. it rocks my world.
- i am officially a california girl. four weeks to graduation, for months to moving day, but my mind&heart are staying here.
- i love my cousins. love.
- nothing makes you appreciate something like distance. to amie, sam, marco, rj, liz k, christina, liz m, and the rest of my socal gang, i love you so, so much! i don't know how i survive with you so far away.
- same goes for all my chitown friends, too! i wish y'all could be out here with me! i love you!
sorry i'm getting all mushy on you, but i've been doing some serious future-thinking on this trip, and it's freaking me the hell out. yesterday i fell in love (with oxy, duh), today i see my three ucsd lovers (marco sam amie), hear from RJ, disney-ed it up with the cousins on thursday, and tomorrow i see DANI the love of my life. probably. it just makes me think. and thinking, as we all know, is a scary thing.
ps. i'm in the OC right now. and i went to laguna beach this morning. shit, no, i don't watch those shows. but i bet you're jealous. |

edit
elena reminded me that the boy was called murray, not murphy. and i may have to share him. but it's ok because his beauty was so great that there is easily enough to go around.
i had a conversation today with emily:
me: hi! emily: hi! me: happy not-easter! emily: yay! emily: and happy easter for you!
and it made me realize that i don't know any jewish people. well, emily, duh. and probably some more. but seriously. |

[Apr. 15th, 2006|10:16 pm] |
so it's been a while.
here's some stuff:
-i need to go shopping before wednesday! i have no summer tops, and i want sandals to wear that are not cheap flipflops and not 4-inch wedges.
-i'm almost for sure going to occidental, and i am outofmymind excited. everything there is like, tailor-made for me (except for the lack of Republicans, that is), and i'm visiting campus on friday just to check it out.
-i ate at chipotle today, and i am making it a point to go again, because i am in love with the burrito boy lol. he is really nerdy looking actually. he had taped glasses! i didn't get to talk to him, though, because of the crowdedness and the presence of mother-types, etc. but still. you can't stop true love.
-my discovery of true love and my watching of british tv shows has made me remember the scottish boy i once fell in love with at stratford. oh, my lovely murphy, where are you now?
-i only just realized how little time i have before IB starts. shit.
-i like british tv because it doesn't have to resort to tasteless humour, jokes, and endless sexual references to be funny. not that i don't like tasteless humour or anything, it's just refreshing.
-my laziness, the weather, and lack of any real homework to do has allowed me to start reading real books again! for fun! take that, IB! i have a stack of five books to read, after i finish the one i'm reading now! sweet! |
